Comcast CA Commits to Hiring 100 Veterans By Year End

Carol Eggert

Veteran’s Day is celebrated nationally in November, but here at Comcast CA we celebrated our own Veteran’s Week in April. There are currently over 200 veterans who serve as part of Comcast’s CA operations. In addition, the region is committed to hiring 100 members of the military community by the end of 2017. This is in support of Comcast NBCUniversal’s nationwide pledge to hire 10,000 members of the military community by the end of this year.

As part of the celebration, we hosted a Military Summit led by Carol Eggert, Senior Vice President for Military and Veterans Affairs at Comcast NBCUniversal.

After the summit, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) gave Comcast California a Statement of Support for its efforts supporting the military community. Attendees included the new Comcast CA Regional Vice President, John Gauder; the Mayor of Livermore, John Marchand; members of Work with Warriors and members of Comcast veterans’ employee resource group, VetNet.

Some of the most compelling moments of the celebration were listening to the stories of former veterans who now work for Comcast CA. Check out the experiences of Jim Peelman and Alex Pham.

The activities concluded with a VetWorking career event, featuring a panel of Comcast Veterans and an audience that included job-seekers and leaders from local Veteran Service Organizations. Attendees included representatives from Comcast CA, Comcast Spotlight, Comcast Silicon Valley Innovation Center, and NBC Bay Area.
