This year, San Francisco is celebrating its 48th annual Pride celebration. With more than a million attendees last year, the San Francisco Pride parade is one of the largest gatherings of the LGBTQ community and their allies in the nation. As a leader in workplace diversity and inclusion, Comcast California is proud and honored to be a sponsor of this celebration of the LGBTQ community.

On June 21, Comcast California is hosting an in-store celebration where internet personality and podcaster Dana Piccoli will be recording LIVE the fourth and final episode of her Pridecast podcast series.

Piccoli is the Managing Editor of the Blog at Bella Books, and has been featured in sites like The Mary Sue, The Portalist and Decider among others, she also hosts the Official ClexaCon podcast “unCONventional.” To commemorate this year’s Pride Month, Piccoli has partnered with Comcast California to create a series of four podcasts exploring the history of Pride and its many perspectives titled, “Pridecast with Fairy Gaymother.”

She began her series earlier this month discussing the history of Pride and a discussion with planners from some of the earliest parades and marches. Over the next three episodes, Piccoli will interview members of Generation Z attending Pride for the first time and small town Pride organizers, before hosting the last podcast of the series at a free Pride Month celebration at the Xfinity store on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, on June 21.

Recording live at the Xfinity in-store Pride celebration, Piccoli will sit down with Taylor Barrett, writer, director and star of Work in Progress on Here TV. The two will discuss the importance of LGBTQ representation in media and culture. In addition to the live recording, attendees can enjoy giveaways, refreshments and the chance to win tickets to the exclusive San Francisco Pride VIP Party. The VIP party features LGBTQ acts including Taina Asili, Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical and North Light Court Discotheque among others. After the store event, Piccoli will join Comcast’s employees on their float in the San Francisco parade.

Then on June 24, Piccoli will join Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their friends and families walking in the San Francisco Pride parade.  Led by its OUT Employee Resource Group (ERG), members of the LGBTQ community and their allies, the Comcast NBCUniversal float matches the theme of Universal Pictures’ upcoming movie, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again.

Earlier this week, Comcast California employees from the OUT ERG discussed what Pride meant to them during their Pride Month celebration. Launched last year, Comcast California’s OUT Employee Resource Group now has more than 170 members. For its celebration of Pride Month, the OUT ERG welcomed Michelle Meow of the Michelle Meow Show, Professor Johnnie Terry of Sierra College’s LGBTQ Studies Department and Jethro Patalinghug award-winning filmmaker and video producer. The OUT ERG is just one example of how Comcast celebrates diversity and inclusion throughout its workforce in California and across the nation. Another example is in the company’s corporate governance, supplier diversity program, community impact and diverse programming initiatives.
