Comcast named Elaine Barden Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives for the California Region. She is based in the company’s Livermore, California office and reports to John Gauder, Regional Vice President for California.
In this strategic role, Elaine will focus on business development and the continued expansion of Comcast’s infrastructure through partnerships with housing developers, municipalities and businesses. Elaine’s team will harness the combined capabilities of various Comcast NBCUniversal entities in California, including Comcast Ventures, NBCUniversal, the Comcast Innovation Center and Comcast Spotlight to serve current and future customers throughout the region.

Elaine has 30 years of marketing, sales, product development and general management experience in the cable television industry. Most recently, Elaine served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast’s California Region. In this role, she led a team of nearly 1,000 employees in Comcast’s largest market, where the company serves more than three million customers.
Elaine’s accomplishments at Comcast include delivering record level customer growth over many years, including significant market share expansion, exemplary employee satisfaction results and launching Xfinity on Campus to 11 California universities serving 40,000 students. She also successfully launched Xfinity Mobile and significantly expanded Comcast’s Xfinity retail store locations.
Elaine is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She is active in the community and serves on the board of directors for the Make A Wish Greater Bay Area Chapter, the California Cable TV Association and the California Chamber. She is the Executive Director of the Cinlexico Foundation.
