As Houston residents return home to repair the destruction Hurricane Harvey left behind, many of us here in California have been glued to the television and numb with graphic images of the hurricane’s aftermath. Many neighboring communities and even neighboring states have jumped in to help.
Here at home, Comcast California employees are asking, “What can we do?” In times of need, many are reaching into their pockets to donate money to various aid organizations like The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. But that’s not enough for the California Technical Operations team. They’re reaching even deeper by donating their time, labor and in some instances, their personal safety, to recover, rebuild and restore services for Houston residents.
Called the “Cali Team”, more than 30 members from the California Technical Operations organization have traveled to Houston to repair outages, troubleshoot and replace storm damaged network equipment. Recovery will take time given the severity of the damage, but so far the “Cali Team” has restored services for more than two hundred customers. The team will be in Houston for up to six weeks to continue their efforts.
