Comcast Close to Completing Service Restoration for Weather-Impacted Customers

Comcast crews continue to make progress in restoring services. There are now fewer than 600 customers who remain offline, the majority of which are in the hardest hit areas of the Sierra Foothills. Power outages in the area continue to be a significant factor in Comcast’s efforts to complete the process of restoring service to all customers. Comcast crews will continue to work throughout the weekend, in ongoing collaboration with local agencies, offices of emergency services, city and county leaders and community partners to assess and repair all outstanding damage.

It’s through this continuous collaboration and partnership that we’ve been successful in restoring services to residential and commercial customers, along with deploying generators in areas where it has been deemed safe to do. As of today, we have brought several hundred more customers back online despite the lengthy power outages.

With a forecast for dry weather through the weekend, our Comcast teams will have greater ability to access more remote areas, where we’ll assess any damages and get them fixed. With conditions improving and access to our facilities increasing, we can safely deploy additional staff and supporting resources to help us restore services to our customers even faster. We intend to make additional progress over the weekend, and will be focusing our efforts on Cascade Shores, Grass Valley, Placerville and Nevada City. Twain Harte is also a focus, although there are now only a handful of customers who remain offline there.

“Every single customer is important to us and we will not rest until everyone is brought back online,” said Jeff Votaw, Vice President of Engineering for Comcast California. “The weather looks like it will be on our side and we have gained significant positive momentum this week. But our crews will remain vigilant, while keeping safety as their top priority. Many of our folks live and work in these areas too and we know the hardship these communities have faced. We are personally and professionally dedicated to restoring everyone who was impacted.”

For those remaining Xfinity and Comcast Business customers experiencing a service interruption can sign up for an outage resolution notification in their My Account App to receive a text message when service is restored. These apps are helpful sources of information for all customers.

We want to remind our customers that the Xfinity Stream App allows users to download their favorite shows and movies to watch offline, watch live TV and get weather updates.
