Comcast Rings in the Year of the Rabbit with Chinatown, San Francisco

Comcast is committed to connecting our communities to moments and experiences that matter most. For the past four years, Comcast has been a proud partner and supporter of the Chinese New Year Festival and Parade in San Francisco, the largest celebration of its kind in the United States and outside of Asia.

This year, on February 4th and 5th, Comcast will be hosting a Comcast RISE Market at the Community Street Fair on the corner of Grant and Washington. The market will feature RISE recipients and local, Asian-owned small businesses: Immedium and Socola Chocolatier. Stop by our booth to support these small businesses and see what amazing products they have to offer!

Beyond these festivities, Comcast’s investment and support of the Chinatown community continue all year round. Comcast is dedicated to creating a future of unlimited possibilities by making strides to uplift the communities we serve in partnership with local community organizations and programs, such as Self Help for the Elderly and the Community Youth Center of San Francisco.

To close the digital divide and bring our elders up to speed, Comcast has partnered with Self-Help for the Elderly to support their program at the Lady Shaw Senior Center in Chinatown, San Francisco. Since 2010, Self Help for the Elderly has partnered with Comcast to create digital equity in the Senior community. Together, Comcast and Self Help for the Elderly launched the inter-generational digital connectors program, which trained younger generations to provide digital literacy training to older generations to empower them with digital skills on the latest technology. This program gives youth the opportunity to connect with the elderly and provide personalized training to those who need it. Beyond the intergenerational program, Comcast has provided Self Help for the Elderly with grants, funds, and laptop donations to support digital literacy training for the greater community.

Comcast has also partnered with the Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) to support local youth and their families through the pandemic and beyond. Located in the Willy “Woo Woo” Wong Playground and Clubhouse, the CYC works with youth from 5 years old all the way to 25 years old, offering educational support, youth leadership development, workforce development, and behavioral health programs to equip them with the tools they need to succeed on and off the screen. Since 2021, Comcast has partnered with the CYC to establish and maintain an onsite Comcast Lift Zone, providing the community center and the families they serve with free WiFi access. This Lift Zone acts as a remote learning center, providing students with an environment where they can safely and fully participate in educational opportunities and the digital economy.

Throughout the Year of the Rabbit, Comcast hopes to embody the persevering, courageous spirit of the Rabbit and continue bridging the digital divide together as a community. Comcast wishes you a Happy Lunar New Year and we hope to see you at our Comcast RISE Market this weekend. May this year bring good fortune, health, and prosperity to us all!
