Inspiring Action: Comcast and Latinas in Tech Host Powerful Panel on AI

On May 28, Comcast, in partnership with Latinas in Tech, kicked off opening night of the 2025 Latinas in Tech Summit with an intimate event at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square. The gathering brought together over 100 influencers from across the country, including the Consul of Mexico in San Francisco, Ana Luisa Vallejo Barba. Guests enjoyed an evening of networking, refreshments, and a dynamic panel discussion on responsible and inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy.
Moderated by NBC Bay Area Reporter Vianey Arana, the panel included: California Assemblymember Liz Ortega; Kapor Center Chief Technology Community Officer (CTCO), Lili Gangas; Tech Expert and Content Strategist, César Salza; Latinas in Tech’s Director of Board of Directors, Monica Marquez, and Comcast California’s Director of Government Affairs Lennies Gutierrez.

Led with action, advocacy, and heart, the timely conversation about AI focused on how it can bridge the gap in tech opportunities. “We have to find solutions to the digital divide and AI will help us bridge the gap. We have to make sure Latinas are building tools with AI for our community,” Marquez stated.
“Partnering with Comcast and providing this information is broadening reach and creating awareness. It’s awareness for how AI is impacting industries, companies, and teams. Latinas in Tech mobilizes and provides resources to inform the community and help ride the wave of AI instead of being left ashore.”

Assemblymember Ortega and Gangas inspired guests to seek data and share their voices. “Storytelling is powerful and preserved through generations. Let’s leverage the power of AI with multimedia to tell our stories and lived experiences.” Assemblymember Ortega agreed and encouraged constituents to reach out to legislators with their stories and data on the impact and benefits of AI. “We need to hear more stories. We need more voices in the room to talk about policies and their impact on our communities. Legislators need to hear from you. Advocate for yourself.”
When asked how companies can connect to consumers over AI, César Salza believes the solution includes providing learning opportunities and a great user experience. “It starts when we build products, ensuring users understand how they work and providing resources such as translations and accessible platforms. It’s all about empowering our communities, and my hope is to each everyone in our community about AI tools.”

“It’s going to take an ecosystem to bridge the gap. Through partnerships, such as events like this one, we can make an impact. It’s critical to involve community organizers in conversations, creating benchmarks, and testing AI tools before they go to market.”
Lili Gangas, Chief Technology Community Officer, Kapor Center
As AI rapidly transforms industries, economies, and everyday life, ensuring access and opportunity in the tech landscape has never been more important. Through the dialogue and connections made at this event and the Latinas in Tech Summit community walked away from the event with inspiration and camaraderie to ensure the future of technology is bright for all.
