Contra Costa County DA Takes Aim at Communication Line Vandalism in New PSA

In a new Public Service Announcement (PSA), Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton called attention to a significant issue affecting communities. Communication line theft and vandalism destroys telecom cables that power internet and phone lines, disrupting connectivity for students, families, local businesses, and emergency response services.

According to a study published by the telecommunications industry, the data shows infrastructure experienced more than 5,700 incidents of vandalism from June to December 2024. Approximately one-third, or 1,805, of those incidents occurred in California alone.

As Contra Costa County takes a firm stance on this issue, local authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and informed to protect their community’s connectivity to what matters most.

Remember, if you see something, say something by contacting your local police department or the sheriff’s office.
