Comcast employees throughout the California Region have been given a unique opportunity to participate in one of many Unidos’ Emerging Leader’s Speaker Series events being hosted now through the end of the year.
Unidos, is a Comcast Employee Resource Group (ERG) that launched in the California Region last October with the mission to develop, retain and promote our Latino talent while educating all employees about the diversity of the Latino culture.
The ERG has organized a series of opportunities for its membership to engage in from Unidos driven Cares Day efforts to benefit local schools, to the Emerging Leaders Speaker Series.
In August, Unidos took the speaker series to Fresno and Oakland. The events were open to all employees and included an opportunity to network, fellowship over Latin inspired cuisine, and engage in panel sessions with local leaders.
“The speaker series serves as a platform to cultivate and foster employee talent through conversation with Latino leaders from throughout our California footprint,” said Maria Castillo, Unidos California Chair.
In Oakland, panelists focused the conversation on three key factors: personal and professional journey, leadership, and the importance of networking through ERG’s.
On the topic of career journey, panelist Alberto Negrete, Xfinity Area Sales Manager from Livermore, discussed the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone to push yourself to learn and adapt, as a form of development to success. He also shared his sales career journey and how he was able to go against the personality norms of his field with his low key demeanor and still be very successful.
Christina Gonzales, Sales Account Coordinator and member of Unidos said of the Oakland event, “The audience was able to relate to all of the panelist in some way and connect their experiences to their current position in their career. The audience left the event inspired and motivated to take their career journey to the next level.”
The next Unidos Emerging Leaders Speaker Series event in scheduled for October 12, 2017 in Sacramento, followed by the Unidos Hispanic Heritage Signature Event on November 1, 2017 in San Jose.
