We are coming out of the excitement of the 2020 Chinese New Year Festivities in San Francisco. For the second year in a row we were a procession level sponsor and so far have participated in a handful of events including the 2020 Miss Chinatown USA pageant.
According to the San Francisco Chinese Chamber of Commerce, for over 60 years, women from throughout the United States have come to San Francisco to compete in the annual Miss Chinatown USA pageant. This year, like in previous years, the new queen and her court become goodwill ambassadors for the Chinese community throughout the new year.
At Comcast, we take volunteerism and giving back to the community seriously, this is why we became proud sponsors of the Comcast Community Impact Award. With this award we hope to recognizes community involvement by the pageant participants. Coincidentally, this year’s winner was also crowned 2020 Miss Chinatown, Lauren Yang from Texas. Lauren received this recognition for her work on women’s rights.
Our very own Michelle Alba-Chua, Director of Business Operations, had the honor of being a judge at the pageant and presenting the award. Check out her interview on Mochi Magazine and learn more about Lauren’s impressive work.
