As our team continues to monitor and inspect damage caused by the recent historic snowstorm, our hearts go out to our customers who continue to be without power and Comcast services in parts of Central and Northern California. Comcast crews have been working hard to assess and repair damages and restore service in the affected areas, but more work is required. We want to assure you that our technicians, engineers and construction teams are working around the clock to get you back online as soon as possible.
“At the peak of this record-setting snowstorm we had nearly 25,000 customers who had been affected and lost their Comcast services. Currently, we have reduced that number to just over 1,500 residential customers and a little under 30 businesses who are still without service,” said Jeff Votaw, Vice President of Engineering at Comcast California. “While we’ve been able to restore service for more than 20,000 customers, we realize that we still have much more work to do in order to get everyone back online and connected. I want to assure you that our teams are working diligently — especially in the more remote areas of the region — to bring those remaining customers back online.”
“The conditions remain extremely hazardous and safety continues to be our highest priority,” Votaw added. “Deep snowdrifts, black ice on roadways, downed trees, blocked or inaccessible roads along with continued freezing temperatures, rain and snow have made the working conditions extremely dangerous. We are working diligently, but must remain highly cautious to ensure we keep everyone safe. This is especially true in the numerous areas where there are downed power lines.”
Where it has been deemed safe to do so, Comcast has deployed a number of generators in the Grass Valley area where commercial power isn’t currently available. Our field technicians are currently also assessing other areas to deploy generators where power isn’t restored and will do so where it is safe and feasible.
We want to remind our customers that the Xfinity Stream App allows users to download their favorite shows and movies to watch offline, watch live TV and get weather updates.
Our Comcast California team wants to assure you that we are committed to restoring your service as quickly and safely as possible. We truly value your business and sincerely regret any challenges or inconvenience these storm-related outages may have caused you, your family, or your business.
