Thousands of community members in the San Jose area gathered on Saturday, June 15th, to celebrate Juneteenth at the African American Community Service Agency (AACSA)’s 43rd Annual Juneteenth in the Streets Festival. Located in downtown San Jose’s SoFA District, the festival filled the streets with joy to honor African American Emancipation Day.
The annual celebration features art, food, music, live entertainment, and local vendors and businesses to celebrate African American heritage and community. Renowned singer and songwriter Marsha Ambrosius headlined this year’s festival. The event also featured special performances by marching bands from Alabama State University and Florida A&M University.
During the Juneteenth celebration, Jacob Mitchell, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast, shared remarks on stage and introduced the 2024 Youth Leadership Academy cohort to the community. The leadership program empowers students with mentorship, networking, community service projects, professional development, and academic support.
Comcast is proud to be a long-standing partner of the African American Community Service Agency, supporting the organization’s annual events such as Juneteenth, the Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon, and STEAM Saturdays.
