Frameline 49: Celebrating Stories, Supporting Community

Each June, San Francisco plays host to Frameline—the world’s longest-running and largest LGBTQ+ film festival. But Frameline is more than a festival. It’s where community, culture, and storytelling come together.

This year, Comcast was proud to support Frameline 49 by providing connectivity at key venues, video production services, and creative support. Our continued partnership is grounded in a shared belief: stories matter. They build empathy, shape culture, and reflect the communities we serve.

“Comcast is proud to partner with Frameline because we both believe that storytelling helps tell everyone’s story—and helps amplify those that need to be heard the most,” said Alex Youn, Director of Government Affairs for Comcast California.

Frameline’s Executive Director, Allegra Madsen, shared, “Frameline celebrates the power of queer cinema to change the world.”

This year’s theme—“The World Is Watching”—reflected both the festival’s global relevance and local roots. From timely premieres to intergenerational filmmaker panels, Frameline 49 reminded us how storytelling can inform, connect, and inspire.

Comcast’s support helped lift up voices from across the LGBTQ+ community. Filmmaker Jenni Olson reflected, “You don’t just see your story on screen—you see it reflected in the audience around you.”

For Jim Ambrose, whose documentary screened this year: “Frameline is where I first saw my life on screen. Coming back 25 years later in a film about my journey—it’s powerful.”

As Frameline prepares for its 50th anniversary and the reopening of the Castro Theatre, Comcast is proud to continue showing up as a partner—supporting the infrastructure that allows stories and communities to thrive.
