Xfinity brings the Lunar New Year Celebration to your Neighborhood

It’s almost Lunar New Year and Xfinity is ready to commemorate the holiday with in-store, family-friendly celebrations and presence at community events in the Bay Area.

February 16, 2018 is Lunar New Year. It is the most important of the traditional Asian holidays. Widely known as “Lunar New Year,” it is based on the lunisolar calendar. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month in the Lunar calendar and ends with Lantern Festival, which is on the 15th day. It is a gift-giving time of year, a time for renewal and a time to honor deities as well as ancestors.

Lunar New Year is celebrated in many Asian countries and territories, including China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, North and South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mauritius, Australia, and the Philippines.

2018 will be the Year of the Dog!

The Chinese zodiac moves in a 12-year cycle, and those born in 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, and 2018 are also known as Dogs. 2018 will be the first year of the earth dog since 1958.

According to the Chinese zodiac, people born in the Year of the Dog are honest, friendly, faithful, loyal, smart, straightforward, venerable and have a strong sense of responsibility.
