Love Unites: A Prideful Month of Celebration at Comcast California - Pride 2024

All year long, Comcast is dedicated to celebrating the stories, pride, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. Our theme this year, “Universal Truths Don’t Change. Love Unites,” focuses on the universal truths prevalent in our daily lives, such as “actions speak louder than words,” and “we all deserve to be loved,” and the programming that brings these mantras to life. For Pride Month, we celebrated how these universal truths unite us and keep us connected to our communities.

Building the Block Purple Pride Party

Comcast is proud to support the SF LGBT Center’s first-ever block party for Pride. For more than twenty years, the SF LGBT Center has connected the community to opportunities, resources and each other to achieve a stronger, healthier, and more equitable world for LGBT people and allies. To officially launch San Francisco Pride season, the SF LGBT Center hosted the Building the Block Purple Pride Party on Saturday, June 1st. The free event featured live entertainment from Bay Area LGBTQ+ creators and connected attendees to local community resources, LGBTQ+-owned small businesses, and BIPOC-owned food trucks.

Celebrate Pride with Comcast and Frameline

Founded in 1977, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival is the longest-running, largest, and most widely recognized queer film exhibition in the world. As a community event with an annual attendance of more than 63,000, Frameline’s festival is the most prominent and well-attended LGBTQ+ arts program in the Bay Area. This year marks the 48th edition of the film festival, which ran from June 19-29, 2024 with its signature showcase of the world’s leading queer cinema. Comcast is proud to partner with the long-standing film festival to unite diverse communities through the arts.

Comcast California Team Shows Their Pride

All month and throughout the year, Comcast employees participate in and host events with the LGBTQ+ community. This month, members from our LGBTQ+ employee resource group, OUT ERG, participated in Pride parades in Sacramento and San Francisco.

On Sunday, June 9th, Comcast and NBCUniversal team members in Northern California participated in the Sacramento Pride March for the first time. They marched throughout downtown Sacramento with pride alongside community members, colorful floats, and live local music.

A few weeks later, on Sunday, June 30th, the Comcast and NBCUniversal teams joined the Pride festivities in the Bay Area to walk in the 2024 San Francisco Pride Parade. With a float decked out with a DJ and our slogan, “Universal Truths Don’t Change. Love Unites,” teammates took the celebration to the streets and handed out beaded necklaces to the crowd. Xfinity also had a booth at the festival, where festival-goers could take photos in a magazine-style photo booth and learn more about Xfinity’s services.

For OUT ERG Co-lead Anthony Esquivel, Pride is a time of year to celebrate the resiliency of the LGBTQ+ community, encourage everyone to be their authentic selves, and focus on culture and community. “I knew from the first day I started working for Comcast that culture was huge. Over a decade later, the company stays true to this by the support it shows for LGBT rights, its diverse workforce, and the actions it takes to be involved in community events such as the Pride parade. It’s a true blessing to work for an organization that truly embodies culture from the inside out. I couldn’t be more grateful and proud to be a part of the company.”
